Outside the atmosphere is cheerful. It's sunny and people seem relaxed – for the first time ever since I have arrived in this city. Today the casual stroller encounters a rich and varied display of ideologies throughout public space. It all begins with this old man who asks me in English whether I speak German.
Get up, stand up, don't give up the fight! May 1st and l'art engagé.

Das über 40-seitige „1984. Wie es wirklich war am Beispiel Knokke“ entstand in Kollaboration mit Annette Grotkasten, Texterin der Band „Bärchen und die Milchbubies“. Kippenberger beauftragte sie, eine Kurzgeschichte zu schreiben, die er vorher selbst erleben wollte.
